Saturday mornings on Cherokee Street have started to feel different this year. The Farmers Market crowd still spills out of Logan Farm Park by 9 a.m., tote bags loaded with peaches from the Georgia growers, but now there's a second current running the other way, toward the new coffee windows and the 9,000 square foot lakehouse-style build going up next door to the park. The center of gravity in downtown Acworth is shifting, and if you've lived here a while, this is the summer you'll feel it.
This isn't a "discover Acworth" post. You already discovered it. You live here. What follows is a working playbook for the next few months: what's actually new on Main and Cherokee, which events on the 2026 calendar are worth blocking off, and where the old rhythms of Logan Farm Park and Cauble Park still win.
The Cherokee Street Shift
Two openings this year are quietly rewiring how a summer Saturday works downtown.
The first is Tap Town, the long-awaited restaurant and gathering space from Adam Silverberg and Jay Clark at 4443 Cherokee Street, right next to Logan Farm Park. The team is targeting a spring 2026 debut, with soft openings likely beginning in April. The scale is the interesting part. The 9,000-square-foot space sits next to Acworth's central park and is designed to serve as a gathering place throughout the day, with a welcoming lakehouse-style feel and seating for roughly 200 guests across indoor and outdoor areas. Tap Town plans to operate seven days a week, with service beginning around 7 a.m. with the coffee concept and continuing through dinner, with closing around 10 p.m. The beverage program will include 44 taps downstairs and 12 upstairs, along with cocktails such as coffee-forward drinks, espresso martinis, and a cold brew old fashioned.
Owner Adam Silverberg has been direct about the intent. The restaurant will intentionally avoid televisions to encourage social interaction: "We want people to be there and be with each other, not staring up at a screen. We're not trying to be a sports bar — we want it to feel like a place where people gather."
The second opening is smaller but reinforces the same pattern. Bizarre Coffee Company is bringing its bright, slightly offbeat coffee shop style to Acworth with a fourth location coming to 4415 Cherokee Street, following existing shops in Canton, Woodstock, and Roswell. The brand is known for "Good Mood Juice," playful drinks, coffee, bagels, breakfast items, smoothies, bowls, and other daytime fuel.
Read those two together. A coffee-and-daytime spot at 4415 Cherokee and a coffee-through-dinner spot at 4443 Cherokee, both flanking Logan Farm Park. What used to be an event-weekend visit is turning into a full-day loop: coffee at 8, Farmers Market at 9, lunch at 12, and something at Tap Town after the Classic Car Cruise wraps at 8 p.m.
The 2026 Summer Calendar Worth Blocking Off
Not every event is worth rearranging a Saturday for. These are.

A few things to plan around:
There will be no farmers market on the following Saturdays: July 25, October 17, and October 24. The July 25 gap is the one that catches people. Plan a Friday market run that week instead.
The City of Acworth and the Acworth Business Association present one of the largest fireworks extravaganzas in Metro Atlanta each year on July 4th at Cauble Park. Live music starts at 5:30 p.m. Fireworks begin at approximately 9:30 p.m. If you do not have a parking pass or if the parking is full, you will need to park downtown and walk down to the park. Shuttles will not be running for this event. If you live inside the walk radius, that's a real advantage. If you don't, leave earlier than you think.
The Friday Market vs. the Saturday Market
Locals argue about which day is better. The honest answer is that they're different markets.
Friday mornings at Logan Farm Park run smaller and quieter, closer to a working-farmer's schedule. Saturdays are the social version, with more overlap between the market crowd and whatever else is scheduled at the park that weekend. Market customers will have a wide variety of garden ripe Georgia grown vegetables, eggs, cheese, bedding plants, fresh-baked bread, pies, cakes, honey on both days, so the choice is really about the crowd you want.
One structural note residents miss: the Saturday market at 4405 Cherokee Street sits directly across from where Tap Town is opening at 4443 Cherokee. If Tap Town's soft opening schedule holds, the after-market coffee and brunch options this year will be materially different than last year's.
When to Skip Downtown
Some Acworth summer weekends are better spent away from Main Street entirely.
Cauble Park and Lake Acworth. Beach access, kayaking, and the July 4 setup make this the answer when downtown gets shoulder-to-shoulder. Logan Farm Park's non-market side. The park hosts the Concert on the Green series and the Classic Car Cruise, but on quieter weekends it's just walking trails and shade. The Rena Henton Theatre. Acworth Cultural Arts' Rena Henton Theatre at the Roberts School Community and Education Center is the new home to the Acworth Theatre Company, with multiple performances, comedy shows, and more on the horizon for 2026. A rainy Saturday alternative that didn't exist in the same form a few years ago.
Cobb Foodie Week: Which Acworth Restaurants Actually Deliver
#CobbFoodieWeek returns June 20-27, 2026. The Meal Deals Pass gets you into a rotation of restaurants across the county, but you don't need to leave Acworth for a good week. A few standing recommendations from the current downtown roster:
- 1885 Grill at 4438 Cherokee Street, still the anchor for a proper sit-down downtown dinner.
- Center Street Tavern at 4381 Senator Russell Ave, the neighbor's kitchen version of dinner out.
- BRIX On Main at 4843 N Main Street for tapas and a wine list that rewards ordering by the glass.
- Red Top Brewhouse at 4637 S Main Street, a family friendly and dog friendly craft brewery featuring a taproom, restaurant, rooftop porch, fire pit, and event venue.
- Fish Thyme at 3979 S. Main Street when someone's earned a proper seafood night.
If you're building a Foodie Week itinerary, the useful move is pairing a downtown lunch with a Cedarcrest or Highway 92 dinner. That's also where Chick-fil-A I-75 at Acworth slots in. The Late-Summer Handoff
By late August the summer calendar hands off cleanly. On Saturday, August 29, Acworth will host a Classic Car Cruise in Downtown Acworth from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Logan Farm Park. The Art Fest lands two weeks earlier on August 15. Then the school-year rhythm resumes, and the Farmers Market rolls quietly on through November.
The through-line is worth naming. Acworth's summer used to belong to two or three big-event weekends. This year, with Tap Town and Bizarre Coffee flanking the park and a Farmers Market schedule that runs six days across every week from May through November, the "big weekend" is more like a slightly louder version of a normal one. That's a good problem to have if you already live here.
